Health and Safety

 Health and Safety

Ensuring health and safety is a really important part of the production process to keep everyone involved safe.

When shooting for our lighting technique examples, we had cords and bags as well as other pieces of large equipment lying about so before we started filming anything we made sure anything we could trip over or fall on was out of the way and pieces of heavy equipment were securely positioned so no accidents could occur.

When doing our experimental lighting examples we used gels and metal Par Cans. Par Cans are a type of studio light and due to them being metal we had to make sure they were turned off while we set up the lights and put the gels on otherwise the metal would've heated up and burnt us. This also prevented us from being blinded by the lights when setting them up.

When filming 4-hour film challenges like the silent film and door, we usually used natural lighting so as a consequence, used reflectors to direct the light where we specifically wanted it. But as we filmed in public places for example next to a road with cars constantly passing, we had to make sure to have it pointed away so we didn't blind drivers and cause an accident. We also had to be cautious of how long we were looking at the reflector and were being exposed to the sunlight for our own safety.
